Annual Meeting

It’s not too cornball to say Arts thrive under adversity.

The HVSF Board held its annual meeting Sat am, 1/30. The Presidents began the meeting by cataloging an impressive list of Festival accomplishments, all achieved during what was supposed to have been an off year, the bad economy and the doom and gloom that went along with it, etc. While foundation and corpororate granting declined significantly, it was gratifying to see that our audience and our private donors, as well as our Board, rose to the occassion in a year we feared would sink us.

I’ve heard many similar stories about other arts orgs, and I’m gratified to see the outpouring of genuine support.

I think also it’s accurate to say that in the past year, I’ve heard a lot less talk about career, and a lot more talk about the Work.

Nice.
