Avatar. Finally.
Finally saw Avatar today, in IMax 3D. Very beautiful, visually, a strange and original look. Leo and I thought, speculatively, it might have come from James Cameron’s undersea work. Exhilarating to watch, never dull for a minute.
I would humbly submit that the movie might have been helped by a little more moral ambiguity and depth. Corporate Military bad, Nature People good. But it’s never really that simple. Even if the Aliens needed the ore for their survival instead of just greed, it would still be a fable, but chewier.
And that music! I’m so tired of feeling manipulated by Hollywood music. I would like to have heard music which was a match for the visual strangeness. That would gave been interesting.
But I would see it again…
